Kindergarten Celebrates Johnny Appleseed

It was a fun-filled day for the Kindergarten class as they celebrated Johnny Appleseed. They read stories, made crafts, and played with cinnamon apple slime. As part of their language lesson, they practiced listening and following one-step directions by making a Fall scene. They also tried to stack apples and built things using apples and toothpicks. At the end of the day, they had a taste testing with different apple products including apple jelly, applesauce and 3 different types of apples. They then integrated the theme into their math lesson by counting and graphing which apples were their favorite. As you can see, staff also got involved by dressing in the theme.

“Our Body, A Universe Within”

Peering at the wonders inside of the human body was the experience shared by students from Mrs. Young’s  Physiology and Health Occupations classes. Other interested juniors and seniors joined the excursion to downtown Omaha on Friday morning, August 24th.    Preserved and injected with polymers, the human specimens on display provided minute details about contents of the skeletal, muscular, nervous, digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems.  An opportunity to touch a human heart, kidney, liver, and brain was provided.  Truly, we all understand a bit better why our own bodies are actually “A Universe Within.”
