Spanish Club Visits Europe

Spanish teacher Anita Saalfeld led a trip to Spain and France from June 6-15 with Fort Calhoun students and graduates Luke Gustafson, Avery McKennan, John McKennan, Riley McKennan, Morgan Shaner, Anna Taylor, and Kaylee Taylor. The tour included various sites around Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris, with short visits to Toledo and Zaragoza. Some of the sites the group visited included the Spanish royal palace, cathedrals in Toledo, Zaragoza, Barcelona, and Paris, Parque del Retiro in Madrid, Parc Guell in Barcelona, and the Louvre Museum and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Students were able to see original art and architecture by artists such as Goya, el Greco, Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and Gaudí, as well as many other important cultural and historical landmarks. For those interested in more information about this trip or our trip to the Galápagos Islands in 2025, please visit www.fortcalhountravels.com. The trips are open to Fort Calhoun students who will have completed grades 9-12 at the time of the trip, as well as Fort Calhoun graduates 23 and under. These trips are independent student educational opportunities and are not affiliated with Fort Calhoun Community Schools.

High School Students Participated in NCC Art Day

On Wednesday, April 12th, ten high school art students participated in the Nebraska Capitol Conference Art Day. This year’s NCC Art Day was hosted by Louisville High School.
The day included a presentation and activity, led by Mindy Burton, an artist and full-time art teacher at Milford High School. The students displayed work in eleven different categories, and three judges spent over two hours critiquing the work.
Every student from Fort Calhoun received at least one award, and most of them received multiple awards. Brooke Johnsen was voted the top artist from Fort Calhoun. She also received the People’s Choice Award and the Student’s Choice Award. Brooke also received the top award of Best In Show for her entry “Reflecting”. Congratulations to all the students who participated.

Kindergarten Round Up Information

Kindergarten Round-Up Information

We are excited to announce our Kindergarten Round-Up dates.  The dates are April 14th and 21st.  We anticipate requesting the families with last names that start with A-M come on April 14th.  Then, the other half, N-Z, come on April 21st.  This may change slightly due to the number of students within each group.  Please keep in mind this is a two-day event, however, there is only one day you will have to attend.  We will get additional information out soon to each family explaining the details. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Friendly reminder, all eligible students must be 5 years of age by July 31, 2023, per the state of Nebraska, to attend kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year.  If you have any questions please contact the office at 402-468-5714.  Thank you!  Go PIONEERS!
