Kindergarten Holiday Activities 2016

Kindergarten celebrated Polar Express Day in December! We read the story and then did interactive activities as we watched the movie. Students alphabetized Polar Express words, drank hot chocolate and worked on graphing our opinions. Students enjoyed spending the day in pajamas and believing in the Christmas magic!

Happy New Year! Kindergarteners rang in the new year doing activities with the numbers 2017, STEM activities, reviewing their 2016 year and making new year resolutions! Things are looking bright for the class of 2029!

New Homeroom Tradition

Mr. Humphrey’s homeroom is starting a new tradition, food day once a month.  To kick off the first food day of the new year, many treats were brought by all, but the highlight of the morning was Westin Nottleman’s pancakes.  She came prepared with a griddle and all the pancake fixings.  She even took the time to coordinate her outfit with an apron and a Chef Westin hat. Several ideas were kicked around for starting new traditions for the new year, but the freshman homeroom settled on a food day once month, and the new tradition was a delicious success!

HAL Art Show

Elementary HAL Art Show

The Language Art HAL students had the opportunity to present their art to the school. Each art exhibit had to include a minimum of 4 pieces of art with display cards that explained their logic or reasoning of what they created. The mediums included sculptures, acrylic, watercolor, electronic art, music, pencil, and collages. On each individuals exhibit was a brochure that they created. The brochures included an autobiography, two features artists, and their favorite medium. I am very proud of the effort and hard work that each student put into their project. All of the students from the Elementary were able to come in and critique each art exhibit as well, everyone involved enjoyed the show!

Theatre Class to Orpheum Theater

Mrs. Pace took the Introduction to Theatre class to watch Ballet Nebraska’s, The Nutcracker, on Friday, December 2nd at the Orpheum Theater. It was a great opportunity to experience the concepts we had been learning in class firsthand. The production was incredible, and the whole group thoroughly enjoyed it. After watching the production, we ate lunch together at Spaghetti Works and discussed the effectiveness of the many elements of stage production we had been learning about.
