A Perfect Day for Apple Picking

Preschool took a field trip to Super Bee Orchard in Fort Calhoun.  They had a great time picking different types of apples.  The preschoolers also got to check out how the apples are cleaned, sorted and stored.   While visiting the orchard, they got to walk inside the refrigerator where the apples are kept. It was a perfect day for apple picking!!

Pioneers For Education Walk-a-thon

This year in lieu of our Magazine Drive, the PFE is hosting a Walk-A-Thon as our main fundraiser. Money from this fundraiser will be used to improve the school for our children (technology needs, etc). ALL the money raised from the Walk-A-Thon will return to the school, unlike in past years where a large percentage went back to the company that ran the Magazine Drive.

We will be collecting donations for 3 consecutive WEDNESDAYS in September (9/13, 9/20, and 9/27). Please use the form below if you are submitting cash or checks. If your sponsors wish to pay by CREDIT CARD, direct them to our Walk-A-Thon site…………….

Volleyball v. Football Showdown

“The varsity Pioneer Volleyball and Football teams squared off in a preseason volleyball competition on August 17th. The football boys did their best and made game 3 an exciting one to watch, but they were no match for the Pioneer volleyball ladies, who went 3-0 on the night.”

Congratulations to Fort Calhoun High School Marching Band

The Marching Band recently returned from their trip to Washington DC with a first place trophy for their performance in the Fairfax, VA parade on July 4th in the marching band contest. The competition was tough so this award was a big accomplishment. Besides the parade, the students and chaparones had fun touring the Washington DC, Philadelphia and St. Louis areas.

Technology Day 2017

It was a great day in Fort Calhoun, programming drones to fly through hoops. “Only thing that would have made it cooler is if the hoops were on fire!!” That was a quote from our end of the year tech day at Fort Calhoun schools. It was talking about one of the five sessions that over 200 students participated in on Monday, May 15, 2017. Over 100 3rd and 4th grade students partnered up with over 100 7th and 8th grade students to run through and experience technology and in plethora of ways!

Along with navigating drones through a obstacle course, the students also became engineers by designing objects that would hover in a wind tunnel, program Sphere SPRK+ Robots through a maze, design rockets that were aerodynamic out of 2 L bottles to see who’s would fly the furthest, and program their own unique song with tools on an iPad.

The day was a huge success with an educational experience unmatched. Fun was had by one and all!

A big thank you to all of the staff members that helped at Fort Calhoun Schools that without their help this would not have been able to take place.
Also, a huge shout out to ESU #3 for helping support this day! You three were just incredible! Thank you Jeff Ingraham, Greg Schwanke, and Dawn Peterson Ferreyra.

2017 Variety Show
