Thank you from MCC

The blood drive was very successful this year. We had 60 people come to donate and collected 50 units of blood. Thank you to all who donated. If you weren’t able to donate that day but would still like to, go to redcrossblood.org to find a blood drive that is convenient for you.

Veterans Honored at Fort Calhoun High School

On Monday, November 11th, Fort Calhoun Community Schools honored our Veterans by having a Veteran’s Day Ceremony. The event was hosted by our Skills USA students with an introduction by Bailey Donovan and the MC and Skills President being Kate Hoefker. The High School Band and Choir both performed several patriotic songs including the Armed Forces Salute. Plus, the 4th-grade students performed a fun, patriotic light show presentation. The keynote speaker was Ltc. Julie L. Burmeister.  Several service members from the Military were in attendance and enjoyed a luncheon prepared by the school kitchen staff and served by the Skills USA students. Thank you to everyone who helped with the event. Once again, Fort Calhoun Schools would like to thank all our Veterans for their service to our country.

After School Art Program

Many 3rd through 6th-grade students got to be a part of our first ever after school art program and it was a blast! Students got to work on a variety of projects that included drawing, painting, and sculpting. During these art sessions, the students not only learned how to create their masterpieces, but also learned about the 7 elements of art, parts of the paintbrush, the different kinds of paint and materials used in art, just to name a few.
Pictured are the 5th and 6th-grade students with their elephant sculptures from the most recent art class. The next session for 5th and 6th grade will start in January, and the 3rd and 4th-grade session will begin in February. Mr. High Horse and Mrs. Rutledge will have a new set of activities for the students to create and enjoy. The PFE will send out more details when the time gets closer for the next session so be on the lookout!

Thanks to MCC for this fun experience for our students.
