The dress code for this year’s homecoming dance will be the same as last year’s dress code, but this year we are going to allow jeans, shorts and t-shirts. We will not allow athletic shorts or sweats, and male students cannot wear tank tops. If you have any questions, talk to Mr. Green or Mrs. Shields. The dance will be held on Saturday, September 27, at the Community Building from 8:00 – 11:00. The cost is $5/person.
Student’s Mural
Independent art students are making the most of the building construction. Students were given permission to create a mural on two pieces of drywall that are currently blocking an old exit. The mural was created by seniors Vince Hartline, Michelle DeWitt, and Madison Queen. The students have plans to create another mural in the gym on two additional pieces of drywall.
Elementary Fall Fundraiser Kick Off
3rd graders are hooked on learning
2014-15 School wide theme is Hooked on Learning. Each class is using the theme to get the children excited about the school and all of the fun and interesting things that will be learned this year. To go along with this theme, 3rd grade created individual fishing t-shirts. First, as a class, they studied several HOW TO DRAW fish lessons with different backgrounds. Next, they practiced the ones they chose to put on their shirt. Then, each child was given a sheet to put the final picture for the front and back on for a template. Finally, we went to the cafeteria where we placed the template inside the shirt, taped it all down, and traced their design. Fabric markers were used to color in each unique design. The smiles on their faces shows the pride each had in their finished project!

Earth Day 2014
The 3rd and 4th graders from Ft. Calhoun Elementary decided to clean up the school yard and playground. We had discussions on giving back to our school and community by volunteering. Students brought gloves, rakes, gardening tools and brooms to get the task done. Everyone enjoyed the teamwork and results when the job was complete. Mr. Dave Neumann was very appreciative of all the hard work!
